Ubisoft’s new DRM scheme under attack

9 Mar

In an attempt to thwart pirated copies of Assassin’s Creed 2, Ubisoft employed DRM scheme that required any PC copy to access their Ubisoft server to check to see if it was a valid copy.  Even if the game is played as a single player game.  Well this made their DRM servers a target for a DDoS attack yesterday.  Essentially shutting down all access to the PC versions of Assassin’s Creed 2, including legitimate copies.  D’oh.
